Biography:

Dr. Nair's teaching interests are in Operations Management, Operations Research, and Simulation. He teaches in the MBA, Ph.D., and Executive MBA programs and in the undergraduate Management and Engineering for Manufacturing (MEM) program.

Dr. Nair’s research interests are in applying optimization techniques to problems in Services, Manufacturing, Marketing, and Finance. He specializes in the modeling of financial service operations, technological change, new product and service design. He has worked on problems related to analytical modeling for customer acquisitions, risk management, auctions, computer networks, bank services optimization, call center management, yield management, and supply chain management. He has published in Management Science, Production and Operations Management, Interfaces, Naval Research Logistics, IIE Transactions, IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, IEEE Transactions on Knowledge and Data Engineering, Decision Sciences, Decision Support Systems and European Journal of Operational Research. Dr. Nair serves as a Senior Editor of Production and Operations Management and is on the Editorial Board of IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management.

In 1995, Dr. Nair spent his sabbatical leave with General Electric Global Research Center at Schenectady, NY. In 2002, Dr. Nair worked with Merrill Lynch’s Management Science Group in Plainsboro, New Jersey, during his sabbatical leave. He has consulted with various businesses including JP Morgan Chase and General Electric. Dr. Nair worked for four years in industry and management consulting prior to his graduate work. His industrial experience was in automotive and electronics manufacturing. Dr. Nair was part of the team that won the 2002 Wagner Prize for Excellence in the Practice of Operations Research.

Until recently Dr. Nair served as the national Chair of the Financial Services Section of INFORMS, the Institute for Operations Research and Management Sciences.

From April 2006 through December 2007, Dr. Nair was the Associate Dean for Graduate Programs at the school.
