Students in the Operations and Information Management (OPIM) concentration may choose to specialize in Operations Management (OM), in Management Information Systems (MIS), or in a combination of the two. Research in this concentration usually involves strong quantitative and technology components.

The OPIM faculty conduct research, including but not limited to; database design and security; database management; electronic commerce; economics of information and information systems; on-line auctions; telecommunications and networks modeling and analysis; distributed computing and client/server technology; management of technology; manufacturing systems, planning, and strategy; supply chain management; and applications of OR and other optimization techniques to areas such as product design, production scheduling, and facility location.
