About the Editor
Gary N. Powell is Professor of Management and Ackerman
Scholar at the University of Connecticut. He has served as Chairperson of the Women in
Management Division of the Academy of Management, on the Board of Governors of the Academy
of Management, and as Past President and Fellow of the Eastern Academy of Management. He
has also served on the editorial boards of Academy of Management Review and Academy
of Management Executive.
He has won several awards, including one for innovation
in education from the Committee on Equal Opportunity for Women of the American Assembly of
Collegiate Schools of Business. He has also won the University of Connecticut School of
Business Administrations Undergraduate Teaching Award and Graduate Teaching Award
for his outstanding success in teaching. The University of Connecticut honored him with an
Award for Promoting Multiculturalism. In addition, he is the author of two previous
publications with Sage: Women and Men in Management and Gender and Diversity in
the Workplace: Learning Activities and Exercises.
