To all MIS Juniors
2012 MIS Summer Internship Program
OPIM 4891 Field Study Internship (6 credits) (Class number: 1761)

Follow these steps to improve your chances of landing an internship:

1. Take your resume to UConn Department of Career Services (http://www.career.uconn.edu) to receive feedback on how to improve it. Make sure your resume contains the relevant courses and list of skills (see list of courses and their related skills). Career Resource Assistants are availble to critique your resumes Monday-Friday from 9:30-4:30 at:

Department of Career Services
368 Fairfield Road, Unit 2051
CUE 217
Storrs, CT 06269-2051
(860) 486-3013

2. Upload your resume to the UConn Husky Career Link website (see link on left margin of http://www.career.uconn.edu). Make sure you publish your resume in the "MIS Undergraduate Interns" Resume Book (instructions).

Another resource for uploading your resume is the School of Business Career Services, located here: http://www.business.uconn.edu/cms/p842

Upload your resume by clicking on the link: "Business Career Connections - Student Login". The Resume Upload URL is: https://business-uconn-csm.symplicity.com/students/index.php

3. From time to time, we will ask for students’ resumes, which we combine and send to recruiters. We will send out emails to your UConn email address on the exact dates when resumes are due, or if there are special announcements.

4. During January and February the department (in conjunction with the IMA) may schedule mock interviews. Keep your eyes open at announcements posted outside throughout the building.

5. Companies conduct interviews all through the year. Some companies recruit in the fall, while others might recruit during the spring semester. You may be contacted directly by some companies to schedule a campus or an on-site interview.

6. If you find an internship through the efforts of the MIS Department (including Career Socials and Fairs, and participation in the "MIS Undergraduate Interns" Resume Book), you are agreeing to register for OPIM 4891 (Summer 2012). For your internship, the six-hour course can be used to fulfill the Applications Area in your Plan of Study.
