Current Events - Spring 2008
Rush Event - ESPN (February 11, 2008)
- David Rader, former Delta Sigma Pi President and current Sales
Associate for Disney-ESPN, spoke about the importance of being involved
in organizations when interviewing and about the path he took to
his current position with such an elite company.
Blue Turtle DSP Alumni Networking Event (February 23,
2008 12-3 pm) - Several brothers as well as Delta Sigma
Pi Alumni met at the Blue Turtle in Manchester, CT and cheered on
the UConn Huskies as they took on the Villanova Wildcats.
Travelers (February 25, 2008) - Traveler's Team
Husky came and shared some great insight into considering Traveler's
as a career choice. All members of the Traveler's panel were UConn
Alumni.
Founders Capital Management (March 24, 2008) Pat
Terrion spoke to the chapter regarding his insights for a successful
career in business. Pat Terrion is a money manager and currently
a partner at Founders Capital Management. Previously Pat worked
in the corporate world as an executive at British Airways and American
Express.
Nerac Startup Event (April 16, 2008 6:30-8:00 pm) Nerac
CEO Kevin Bouley, Control Station CEO Dennis Nash, and Tune Rooms
CEO Kevin Gardiner spoke to the chapter about different strategies
for starting up a company. The event was moderated by Michael Sousa.
Sunday BBQ Alumni Event (April 20, 2008 1-9 pm) - The
chapter held a BBQ/Get together for Brothers and Alumni. The event
was well attended and both Alumni and Brothers enjoyed the food
and had a lot of fun.
UConn Athletic Director Jeff Hathaway (April 21, 2008)
- Uconn's Athletic Director, Jeff Hathaway, spoke to the
chapter as well as answered questions about what goes on behind
the scenes to make Uconn Athletics so successful.

Rush Event - Phillip Morris – Recruiting
and information event about the sales industry. Theta Iota alumni
Christina Pazos led the Phillip Morris presentation.
Accenture (Oct 15, 2007) - Recruiting and information
event about the consulting industry.
Travelers (Oct 29, 2007) – Alumni and informational
event about the insurance industry. Two Theta Iota alumni, Tony
Torsiello(TI 196) and Frank Judice(TI 130), now executives at Travelers,
spoke to the fraternity about their career and experiences.
IBM (Nov 5, 2007) - Kim Blomker, Director, Vitality
Programs for IBM Finance spoke to the fraternity about IBM and shared
her career experiences.
Faculty Brother Event (Nov 12, 2007) –
Faculty Brother Samuel Schrager spoke to the fraternity about business
law, focusing on the structure of startup companies and small businesses.
Northwestern Mutual (Nov 28, 2007) – Matt
Eppinger of Northwestern mutual spoke about the insurance sales
industry and career opportunities within it.

Rush Event - Faculty (Feb 6, 2007) - Pete Peterson,
faculty and director of the Program for Sales Excellence, spoke
about selling yourself.
Alumni Event (Feb 21, 2007) - Adam Bokon, DSP
Alum 2003 and now an Assistant VP in the Commercial Real Estate
Finance division at People’s Bank, spoke about his experience
as a Brother, his involvement with the School of Business, and his
career in banking and real estate.
School of Business (Feb 26, 2007) - Jim Pelligrino,
former executive and city mayor, and now a career and job market
consultant and advisor in the Business Placement office, spoke about
the current job market and factors that will lead to a successful
job and internship search.
First Investors (March 28, 2007) - First Investors
Corp, an investment management and financial planning company, spoke
to us about the personal investment industry and the opportunities
available to us at First Investors.
